Thanks to Carol from Carol’s PaperPlayce, I found another nice challenge blog to learn from! This one is called The Creative Card Crew and this week their challenge was to make a card using green as the main color. Here is my try!

Top O' the Morn' To Ya!

Top O' the Morn' To Ya!

It didn’t turn out quite like I had envisioned so I am going to keep working at this one until I get it looking the way I want. I wish I hadn’t quartered the printed paper…..I thought it was going to look so so so cool, but alas…..back to the drawing board for me! LOLOL

In His Loving Grip~

The first Monday of every month I take  class from a friend of mine who teaches card making, her name is Denise and she is da bomb!!!!! She designs for Sheetload each month and she makes some of the most gorgeous cards I’ve ever seen in my life…..and she lives right here in my hometown! Yup……lucky me!!!!! Anyway….she helped me with a template for a card I’ve been wanting to make to welcome new arrivals >wink< You can see both color versions below…..
Welcome Baby Boy!

I loved how these two cards turned out! Thanks Denise !!! I love you man….I mean friend!

I was also asked to make a card for a young man…29 years old. That was an easy one for me because I have a 29 year old son! I knew I couldn’t use pink, fluff, lace and stuff like that so here is what I came up with….

Happy Birthday Masculine*ish*

At class on Monday….we got to make two of the CUTEST cards!!! The first one below is an Easter Egg card and I’ve made dozens this week already…in all kinds of colors! The second is a take off of Denise’s original….she taught us how to make a folded card…I don’t know the technical term for it…..it had several folds…..so so cute but I didn’t want to re-create it with so many folds so I did it straight up with a standard sized card. I LOVE the feel of this card and you can see on the bottom, there is room for a sentiment….I left it blank bcause I wanted to be able to put what I wanted there for that special reason or occassion. Again….thanks Denise for all the fun and inspiration you provide us!

Cancer Awareness Color~Teal~Cervical Cancer

Cancer Awareness Color~Teal~Cervical Cancer

I mentioned last month that I had become a volunteer ChemAngel again and I am so thrilled that I did. Besides being a wife, mother and grandmother…..few things in my life have given me this deep sense of purpose and fullfillment! As ChemoAngels, we volunteer by adopting people who are going through the rigors and trauma of cancer…battling it with chemotherapy. Most of our chemo-buddies are in the final stages of cancer, homebound and need some cheering up. We send cards and small packages to them to provide some of that cheer and during this process our hearts become their’s!

I was fortunate enough to recieve a letter from my Chemo-buddy last week and it sent me over the moon! We never expect these people to write us back….it’s not a pen pal program. We understand this is a one way street, but occassionaly we do get to hear from our buddies or members of their family and it just makes it all the more real!

I became aware of the Cancer Awareness Ribbon Colors through my volunteer experience with Chemo-Angels. I didn’t realize it, but the American Cancer Society has given all cancers an awareness ribbon color of their own.

I am dissappointed the above picture didn’t turn out well, but it is the Cervical Cancer color, teal. I’ve made several cards for patients with their own cancer color. I’ve attached a poen to the front of the card called *Cancer Cannot* (see beow)

If you would like to become a volunteer ChemoAngel OR if you know someone who could benefit by having a ChemoAngel adopt them….please visit http://www.chemoangels.com

In His Grip

I’ve been MIA for about a week and a half and I finally found my way back to my computer to do some posting on my blog.

I missed last weeks challenge, boo hoo for me!!! But this week it’s pink, brown and green week at the Pink Elephant Chalenge!

Here is the card I made for this weeks challenge. I really love how it turned out and will be making several for different occassions and possibly with different color themes!

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

I started with double sided card stock in green. (5.5×5.5). Then I made a cut (about 1/4 of front) and used my edge punch from Fiskar. Then I added a strip of pink behind the punched edge. Used a layer of pink to matte some awesome pink brown and green printed paper. I used a nestability circle and ran it through my cuddlebug with the swiss dots folder. I backed the computer generated Happy Birthday with chocolate cardstock and punched three flowers in green and pink, using a paper punch, I made the flower centers in brown. Added a cute pink bow and voila! I am thrilled!

Hop on over to the Pink Elephant Challenge and play with us! I promise you will learn something!! http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/
