Yes!! I heart Pinterest!!!

After leaving facebook I figured I’d have a great deal of time on my hands so what did I do?? Trotted straight over to Pinterest……..hmmmm…….

Well…..I can’t say I am sorry! I’ve discovered so many great ideas and I want to share them here! It’s hard to pick my favorite….or even my top 10 so I will start with my current favorites tonight 🙂

One~

I love to find different ways to tell my husband *I Love You*…..in the past I’ve sent cards in his lunch to work with him…..I’ve left messages on his bathroom mirror with a dry erase pen for him to wake up to…..now……drum roll please…..he has his own personal message board on the counter in the kitchen that I can write love notes to him any time of the day or night! It’s a simple 5×7 picture frame with some nice printed paper behind the glass…..and a dry erase pen works perfect to keep fresh messages flowing his way! He tells me he loves it…….I know he does because it’s the first thing he glances at when he comes home from work and the first thing he looks at in the morning when he wakes up. It’s a pleasure for me to know I am putting a spring in his step each day……now….if only I could learn to use a camera……I wonder if Pinterest could help me with that….???????

Two~

I am working hard at getting healthier….eating healthier……getting fit. I am also a VERY visual person and charting successes has always been super helpful to keep me motivated and on track. I also hate…..and I mean HATE bathroom scales……until last Oct., I hadn’t stepped on one in nearly two years. I’ve heard they make you cry….I believe it. I found something on Pinterest that has changed all of that for me! Now….I can hardly wait until weigh day!! Two small globe vases, tied with pretty ribbon…..and the same number of glass decorator stones as the number of pounds I want to lose. Now each weigh day I get to transfer the number of pounds (stones) from the *to go* jar to the *pounds lost* jar! No…..really……check it out! 🙂

There’s more!! But not tonight……another day…..when my camera isn’t so fussy…..

If you haven’t joined Pinterest…….you should! It’s a lot of fun!!

Joyfully In His Grip~

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9

Can you even imagine that? I try….but it boggles my mind that the creator of the universe is mindful of me.

I made a card today with the above verse on it……praying that it will be an encouragement to the recipient……

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Thrilled to be In His Grip today!~

I LOVE Valentine’s Day! I always have 🙂 Probably because I’ve always loved making Valentine’s Cards and gifts…….the only thing I like better than making these goodies is giving them! 🙂

I already found my new card for this year and will start making them tomorrow…..for now….here are some of the designs I made last year…..some of you might have received one 🙂

Keep in mind…I am a really bad photographer…..on occassion, I get a nice clean snapshot of something but about 85% of the time….I just sigh a big sigh and use what I end up with. I don’t know what I do right when I end up with a nice picture and I don’t know what I do wrong when I end up with a bad one…..I’ve considered taking a photography class at our local Community College several times…….maybe I just need so sign up for it…….we’ll see 😉

I’d like to have some fun with my family, friends and blog readers…..soooo……drum roll please…..and here we go….

I have:

10 Stamps
10 Cards
10 Envelopes

For the first 10 people that comment on this post….I will send one of the cards you see below (my pick) to one of your family or friends (you pick) 😉 I will sign it from you and send it with your return address…..your recipient will receive it by Valentines Day!

Let’s play!

In His Grip~
“She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.”
-Proverbs 31:13

I’ve been having fun making these therapy bags for people for about 2 months now. My daughter, Ashley, works at a Luxury Massage Therapy Salon in Salem Oregon and the owner of the salon asked her if I could make something up for use in the salon as an added service. She sent home this bag to see if I could reproduce it and I’ve been having fun ever since!

I gave them to almost everyone on my Christmas list this year and have been busy filling orders for more. Several of my friends are hair stylists and they have been using them in their own businesses for their customers….they simply pop them in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and place them over the shoulders of their clients….then put the aprons on over that and their clients are in heaven!

These are filled with flax seed and are weighted to help pull stress and tension out of the neck and shoulder areas. I also add lavender Essential Oils so there is a nice mild scent of lavender emitting from them as well…..so soothing and calming.

I make them by hand….meaning…I don’t use a sewing machine. Every stitch is loving stitched by hand. I use Quilting Thread (doubled for extra durable construction)

These can also be put in the freezer for cold therapy. Some injuries require alternating heat/cold therapy…..these are perfect for that! Something I did discover though…if it is put in the preezer…it must be slipped inside a ziplock type freezer bag. It is important that the therapy bag always be free of moisture. It will affect the flax seed and cause the seed to swell.

It’s a perfect gift for someone who works at a desk all day long….several of my sons co-workers have purchased them and now….most of the office wants them too!

Ahhhh….I love being kept busy during the long winter days…..

Valentines Day is coming into view so I will be putting my therapy bags aside for just a bit and will crack out my paper crafting supplies!!!!

What keeps you busy these days?

In His Marvelous Grip~

I love being a homemaker and I love sharing the ideas I’ve come up with, with others! Now that I am a grandmother of 3….and two of them being little girls…..I am excited to be able to share this love of cooking and baking with them!

With Christmas getting close, I decided I would make my little angels a few things to help mommy in the kitchen…..this has been so so much fun for me!

The pictures below are not very high quality and I do apologize for the poor photography skills, but I think you will get some good ideas regardless!

With two…….things need to be nearly the same….but not! LOL I had to keep that in mind while I made their little aprons and accessories to go with them 🙂

Two lil' aprons for two lil' homemakers

The potholders were handmade….I just used some of the coordinating fabric from the aprons and was able to get 4 kid sized potholders from it!

Incidently…..I shopped all year long at Goodwill for fabric and paid only cents on the dollar for all of the fabric I used for this project 🙂

The baking mixes…..are ready for this?? Drum roll please…….these are Jiffy Mixes! Yes…they cost only .48 cents a piece 🙂 I was able to get 4 different mixes for each of the girls. Fudge Brownie, Cornbread, raspberry Muffins and Blueberry Muffins. I just poured the contents into clear freezer bags and used pink and black paper toppers for identification. I also printed the names of the girls and each of their mixes on labels to help them each identify their own easily. I printed the directions for adding the wet ingredients on the back of each label 🙂

Pot Holders:Mini Baking Dishes:Mixes

I found each of the mini baking dishes at Goodwill and waited until their *color* tag came onsale….I was able to get each of these *Corningware* baking dishes for .99 cents each 🙂 Grandpa’s happy!!

Potholders/Mini Baking Dishes

Nice Variety of Mini-Mixes for lil' homemakers 🙂

I made each of the girls little oven had protectors…..you can see in the picture that my big ol’ hand is too big for them……

Mini oven protectors (you can see my hand is too big for these....

Anyone else making homemade gifts this year??? I’d love to hear/see what you are doing!

Happily in His Grip~

I’ve been MIA for about a week and a half and I finally found my way back to my computer to do some posting on my blog.

I missed last weeks challenge, boo hoo for me!!! But this week it’s pink, brown and green week at the Pink Elephant Chalenge!

Here is the card I made for this weeks challenge. I really love how it turned out and will be making several for different occassions and possibly with different color themes!

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

I started with double sided card stock in green. (5.5×5.5). Then I made a cut (about 1/4 of front) and used my edge punch from Fiskar. Then I added a strip of pink behind the punched edge. Used a layer of pink to matte some awesome pink brown and green printed paper. I used a nestability circle and ran it through my cuddlebug with the swiss dots folder. I backed the computer generated Happy Birthday with chocolate cardstock and punched three flowers in green and pink, using a paper punch, I made the flower centers in brown. Added a cute pink bow and voila! I am thrilled!

Hop on over to the Pink Elephant Challenge and play with us! I promise you will learn something!! http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/
