The girls came to stay for a few days this week! We love it when they come to visit…..we had some serious fun this time! They are getting big enough to be able to follow some very simple instructions and our activities during this visit reflected that!

We made Ladybug Cracker Appetizers that we found on the Taste of Home site for grandpa when he got home from work last night. The girls could hardly wait until Grandpa got home so they could show him and eat the treats they made! I was really surprised how little supervising this activity required. I did the cutting but they did all of the assembling and loved every minute of it!

Then we had fun making fish out of socks! Yes….you heard right…..we took brand new socks….stuffed them with tissue paper….fixed a washer in the toe and fished for them! We made fishing poles from glitter batons we bought at the Dollar Tree and attached yarn with a magnet on the end for our *hooks*. Hours of fun for sure!!!

Next time we learn to sew!!! Plastic canvas and yarn to start with……counting the days……

In His Grip~

The first Monday of every month I take  class from a friend of mine who teaches card making, her name is Denise and she is da bomb!!!!! She designs for Sheetload each month and she makes some of the most gorgeous cards I’ve ever seen in my life…..and she lives right here in my hometown! Yup……lucky me!!!!! Anyway….she helped me with a template for a card I’ve been wanting to make to welcome new arrivals >wink< You can see both color versions below…..
Welcome Baby Boy!

I loved how these two cards turned out! Thanks Denise !!! I love you man….I mean friend!

I was also asked to make a card for a young man…29 years old. That was an easy one for me because I have a 29 year old son! I knew I couldn’t use pink, fluff, lace and stuff like that so here is what I came up with….

Happy Birthday Masculine*ish*

At class on Monday….we got to make two of the CUTEST cards!!! The first one below is an Easter Egg card and I’ve made dozens this week already…in all kinds of colors! The second is a take off of Denise’s original….she taught us how to make a folded card…I don’t know the technical term for it…..it had several folds…..so so cute but I didn’t want to re-create it with so many folds so I did it straight up with a standard sized card. I LOVE the feel of this card and you can see on the bottom, there is room for a sentiment….I left it blank bcause I wanted to be able to put what I wanted there for that special reason or occassion. Again….thanks Denise for all the fun and inspiration you provide us!

Happily In His Grip~

I’ve been MIA for about a week and a half and I finally found my way back to my computer to do some posting on my blog.

I missed last weeks challenge, boo hoo for me!!! But this week it’s pink, brown and green week at the Pink Elephant Chalenge!

Here is the card I made for this weeks challenge. I really love how it turned out and will be making several for different occassions and possibly with different color themes!

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

Happy Birthday in Pink, Brown and Green

I started with double sided card stock in green. (5.5×5.5). Then I made a cut (about 1/4 of front) and used my edge punch from Fiskar. Then I added a strip of pink behind the punched edge. Used a layer of pink to matte some awesome pink brown and green printed paper. I used a nestability circle and ran it through my cuddlebug with the swiss dots folder. I backed the computer generated Happy Birthday with chocolate cardstock and punched three flowers in green and pink, using a paper punch, I made the flower centers in brown. Added a cute pink bow and voila! I am thrilled!

Hop on over to the Pink Elephant Challenge and play with us! I promise you will learn something!! http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/

…….blogging, ladybugs, my massage therapist daughter ( I’d love her even if she didn’t give me massages >wink<), square foot gardening, my Solara, people who visit my blog and leave comments, papercrafting, being a grandma, reading good books, friends, cooking, MY HUSBAND :), being a child of God….oh there’s more…..I am just bursting with gratitude this evening and had to share it with someone!

I just found out yesterday that wordpress has chosen my blog as their featured CRAFT blog!! Who knew!? I’ve only been blogging for about 2 months now, so I’d love to know what I did *right* to earn this honor! I am thrilled to have been chosen for it and I guess I should not concern myself with *how* it happened and just keep doing more of what I’ve been doing! Just sharing my heart and interests here on my virtual journal……..yup…..that’s what I’ll do……just keep on doing what I love doing and sharing it here in my lil’ corner of the net!

Last week I created an award for blog pages that I love visiting and since then, I’ve been contacted by people in the UK, Germany and Australia, letting me know the award had traveled to those countries. How fun to know that my *Makes My Heart Smile* award has traveled so far! WOW! It really makes my heart smile to know that my award has made so many other hearts smile!

Happy to be In His Grip tonight~

My homeschooling sister called awhile ago and asked if she could bring my 3 nieces over to do a *craft day* with Aunt Deb! Are you kidding me??? Let me at them!!! 🙂 She asked what we would be doing and of course, I told her we would be making cards and papercrafting, since I am smitten beyond words over it right now.

I put my mind to work thinking about cards that would satisfy all 3 ages, 16, 11, & 7….so here is one of the cards I designed for them to make on Friday! I still have another card to design for our special day, preferably an Easter card so I will share that one when I get it done as well.

I will be making pre-made kits for the younger ones, complete with their own glue sticks! >wink< Tee hee……I hope they have fun!

Here is a Spring Card we will be making together:

Happy Spring!! { Anyone who knows me well, also knows of my infatuation with ladybugs, so this one really made my heart sing!

In His Loving Grip~

At the risk of repeating myself…..I join these challenges because I learn so much about cardmaking from them! I found another challenge blog called MoJo Monday!  http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/ Each week the designers there present a challenge *sketch* and the participants create a card that expresses their own take on the challenge. Pay a visit to MoJo Monday and join us in the fun!
